Singapore GST

How Much GST Would I Have to Pay?

According to Singapore Customs, if your holiday takes you away from Singapore for more than 48 hours, you’ll need to pay 7% GST on any holiday purchases exceeding S$600.

And if you’re only taking a mini-vacation this holiday season lasting less than 48 hours, you’ll need to pay 7% GST on any holiday purchases exceeding S$150.

If you bring back any of the following, you’ll need to pay GST no matter what:
  • Liquor
  • Tobacco Products
  • Petroleum
  • Goods imported for resale (another overhead for running a blog shop)

Take out the packaging and you will not need to pay GST! Prove it is not brand new and for personal use.

Pasar Malam in Johor pelangi

Took leave and went shopping in JB.

Accidently found that there is a night market in Pelangi, it will be on from 5pm every Tuesday.

The location is near to Pelangi Leisure mall where the Giant Supermarket is, near Jalan Pingai.

What is available there? It is like old fashion fun fair , with a lot of very nice local food and cheap fruits.

I think old folks will like it. Plan to have your dinner there! After dinner, can go Giant to shop for cheap toilet paper. (Not that you will have stomachache!)

Dry Tulip

Got a few tulips and since these flowers are so expensive, I thought I can make it into dried flowers, like what we can do with roses.

No! we cant do that with tulips. They looked like salted vegetables!

Grandmother - Ah Ma

I miss my Grandmother.... She is like a mother who will not expect anything from me, it just 100% love. I know she is proud of me, I remember how she show me off in front of her friends. I really love my Ah Ma that very very very much...I don't dare to see her photo, every time i see her photo, I will start to tear.

I think my mother will be just a wonderful grandma to my nephews. Just skip a generation and expectations will be different. Same as my mother and her Ah Ma. I dont think she is that close to my Ah Ma. But I always hear her says how her Ah Ma love her and only complain about her mum (my Ah Ma).

If my mother will just reduce the expectations from me, we will be both very happy. I can bring her out for shopping, dinners and holidays. Which I will love to do but now when I am with her, she will just nag at me.

I only organise family outing which will involve my sister, aunties and maybe my sister’s in-laws. With this, I will divide her attention on me! Very tiring, but at least don’t need to endure the concentrated nagging. I wanted to bring my love ones to the places that I enjoyed. I am glad that I brought my Ah Ma, to a few overseas trips before she passed away. I still can remember her smile.
When my Mum pass away, I also dont want to regret that I never bring her out for holidays or treat her to nice dinners. Now maybe not just 2 of us in these holidays or dinners, but at least I have given her these experiences

Cat on Heat - PMS

Bella is already 7 years old but still will go on heat. When will she menopause? The answer is NO!
Cats don’t have menopause. Their fertility can decline with age, but they won’t stop cycling into estrus.

Have already booked appointment to get her sterilized on 8 Oct 2013.

Longing for Tom.

When is Tom coming?

The PMS is normally a white clear discharge.

I will let my cat sniff catnip. This make her feel better when she PMS.

Make your blog popular?

I am not really a professional when it come to blogging. Even my English is terrible.

But how to make the blog popular? I have the few points that I notice from popular blogs.

1. Act Cute - I think i seriously failed, all my friends said I look disgusting.

2. Show flesh, be sexy. I think my Grandfather is sexier than me! Look at the moves!

3. Be Hardworking take down notes, when you travel - I am trying!

4. Shamelessly promote your blog.

But why I care, it is just my personal blog. I happy can already! :-)

Someone

It will be nice to have someone to grow old with but not everyone is that lucky.

Nothing is forever, to be happy, to be sad..is all our choice.

Spent a day happy or worrying..is all up to us. I really believe "船到桥头自然直", even it does not turn out the way you wanted.

You lose something, You will gain something else...

I do not laugh at people who believe in God. But I do not necessarily believe in God -- nor deny that there could be one. LKY

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is very beautiful and clean. It is not like what we have in mind. We will visit again!

I just used my S3 phone to take these photos, it is already not too bad. Imagine if you use a DSL, you can win some photography contest!

Went to Adam peak, it is not quite tiring. We start at 1 am and reach the peak about 5am to see the sun rise. It is amazing!

Canteens

NTU, used to have nice, affordable food. But now with the new management, everything is so commercialized.

Above - Old Canteen B, how I miss the vegetarian stall. $2, brown rice + 3 dishes.

How I miss the old school canteens which offer cheap and unique food. I think canteens are part of the school heritage or culture, I have already graduated from Singapore Poly for more than 20 years ago, I don’t remember the lecturers or whatever so. But I remember the nice western food and fruit juice that I used to eat at least twice a week in canteen 1.

Now it is just another air-con food court, like in every mall.

Cheapo Tips for Taiwan Trip Planning

Planning my Xth time trip to Taiwan in September 2013. Will be exploring areas that I never been – Will start my trip from Taipei > Taichung > Kenting > Kaohsiung > Taoyuan airport

Last few times done most of the tourist stuff already. I like Taiwan very much, maybe can consider to retire there, people are friendly, food is affordable and there is no language barrier.

It helps to plan the trip early, it saves money.

I have booked the bullet train tickets online via http://www.thsrc.com.tw/en/

From Taipei to Taichung (Train number 1125) - Depart 9.12am and arrive 10.01am – 10% discount – TWD 630

From Zuoying which is Kaohsiung - Depart 10.00am and arrive 11.38am – 35% discount – TWD 860

Hotels, there are early bird specials as well. Thanks to a Taiwanese friend, he booked the hotel with rates that are only offered to residents.  He recommended this website for our research - http://www.eztravel.com.tw/ but this site is all in Chinese. My Mandarin Powder..hmm.... - out of 10 words, 5.5 words know me and I dont know them.

Air ticket, booked in February 2013 for this trip in September – cost only $216 NETT (excludes check-in luggage). Tiger airways and Jetstar timing good and Scoot is worst, their timing sucks.

I seldom book flights that depart or arrive at odd hours. Taxi fare in Singapore is super expensive and I stayed in the wild wild west. I can buy an air ticket to KL with that amount.

In Summary, book early , plan early and it helps to have local friends!
